Early Garrard 401 with flush strobe

Very nice Garrard 401 turntable for sale, the early, prettier version with the flush strobe.

It is in a very clean condition and unused for the last 30 years! It does have the common dustbug mark where the rubber suction pad deteriorated and stuck itself to the deck.

Only needs perhaps very basic service (I'll be recharging the oil here and there, and a basic clean of the bearing before I sell) - new idler wheel and replacement felts to keep going for many many more years. All working parts, linkages etc are in superb, clean, bright condition as it has been wrapped and boxed and stored in nice dry conditions for many years.

I was hoping to make a good project of it but simply not finding the time or funds unfortunately..

Have decided that £375 ono is probably more like the going price..

As you can see in photos it is serial number 05998 (so very early). You can see the residue from the old dustbug there too.

Other than that it is in very nice condition - the paint isn't mint as there are a couple of light scratch lines (not through the paint though).

It will need a new neon bulb (£10 from eBay) and you may wish to buy new felt brake and bearing oil feeder felt (availabe from Perfect Sound). The idler wheel seems to have a good amount of life left IMO. I have basically cleaned and oiled the bearing and a drop here and there on the idler mechanism.

I do have a platter mat for it - a kind of foam rubber thing that I'm currently flattening as it has a fold - but I imagine the mat would be the first thing to upgrade.
