The pointed piece is the diamond stylus of a shure cartridge. The white piece above it is the cantiliever that the stylus is mounted on and it transfers the movment of the stylus to the coil/magnets to create an electrical signal that hopefully faithfully reproduces the original sound that was recorded on the record. This image is not heavily cropped. It's fuzzy due to movement and/or a poor lens. The depth of field (focus) is very shallow at these magnifications and tiny movements can be a problem with sharpness.
