photo shows one of the mods. Suspension springs are replaced with tubular rubber. Partly this mod was motivated by the desire to try a heavier tonearm.

Apart from the spring replacement, function remains the same. The platter height is still adjusted by means of the three nuts at the base of the suspension stud. The sub-chassis still hangs free of any contact with the motor plate.
A successful experiment.
