CD storage has become something of an issue for me while increasing my ever growing collection of LP's, those unsightly pine racks of chipped plastic jewel-case thingys were becoming an eyesore.

I came up with a solution in the shape of a purpose-built metal storage chest costing 25GBP, the capacity is 640 CD's but if each pocket is used for one CD with its insert then there is easily room for my collection of 300-odd, including doubles. The jewel cases were stored in boxes and placed up in the loft...where they belong.

The new storage facility also has the added benefit of being portable Cool

....not that i actually play many CD's these days, you understand...but so many of them have those extra tracks, don't they... ?

now that looks like a dandy! You gonna build it or sell it to a builder and collect royalties? Either way I'll take one in black please....

I did this system for a while, but it's demise was due to the fact they don't print tracklistings on the discs anymore, and I didn't want to ruin the backsleeves.

^^didn't make it myself, available on ebay.

^ i left the back sleeves in the jewel cases in storage and used the front paper inserts, some of them don't have track listings either but the amount of space i saved outweighs this, a quick logon to Wiki would get a track listing if req'd.

Very Happy

Better option still is to rip all your CD's to lossless files and then use a streamer (Squeezebox, Sonos, Linn DS, etc) to play them.

Then you can put all your CD's on fleabay...

could do, would take me months and might cost more than the cd's are worth (a pound each?), though i have a few rarities. Often wondered about the Linn DS, something i will investigate Wink
