The SL-1200 motor is used in the Japanese Marantz and Denon turntables. And may be more??

Does anyone know who actually makes the motor itself, and are there any contact details, web presence or anything?

Regards

Dave

I think Matsushita deliver to Denon and Marantz as well.
Even if you have a look at the DP500 arm, you don't need much imagination to see where its coming from....

I think it's the same motor as in all those "super OEM" DJ turntables that came a couple of years ago. It's not the same motor as the SL-1200Mk2's, but according to the rumours, it's made by Matsushita. The specs are not quite as good as the Technics'.

Check'em out:

Synq XTRM1
Reloop RP6000
Stanton STR8-150/ST 150
Akiyama Acura
Citronic PD45
Omnitronic DD5250
American Audio HTD4.5

But Does anyone know who actually makes the motor itself, and are there any contact details, web presence or anything?

Thanks

I'd ring Matsushita and ask them.

Matsushita > Panasonic > Technics.
Matsushita make electric motors for almost everything, I bet. I've seen their logo on many tape deck motors, and I'd be surprised if they don't make motors for elevators and railroads. I doubt they would outsource their turntable motors.

Cheers,
Alec

I looked at Matsushita and can't see them? If no one knows, I get a friend who speaks Japanese to call. I had hoped someone here would know?

Regards

Dave

You'll find Victor Company (JVC) at the bottom of it all.
They made and still do the Denon TTs. The DP-500M is actually made by Victor, there is a Victor HMV badged one available in Japan.

TDK used to make a lot of the Micro based TT motors but not the Technics/Denon/Victor.

Dave

No link to the info per-se.
You might recognize the arm in this one which they stopped a circa 2 years a go, but then introduced another Denon. I'll have to go over my notes. I did a far bit of research into the manufacturers etc last year.

Just read that the Matushita company is now Panasonic. They used that name (Matsushita) from 1918 - 2008 and from 2008 on Panasonic.
http://panasonic.net/corporate/ --> some information.

Cheers

The current Denon tables aren't made by Denon. They're made in China by the same company who OEM makes the NuMark, Ion, Stanton T series, Audio Technica AT PL-120, etc. Technics still builds theirs by hand in their own Japanese factory in Osaka, Japan.
