Empire 698 in Need of a Good Cartridge

Can anyone please give me an idea of a good cartridge to go onto my Empire 698. It currently has a Shure V15 Type IV. The Shure cartridge seems fine but I am not convinced the needle is. I know there are third party needles on the market but I do not trust them. The head-shell will only allow mounting from underneath. Thanks in advance.

I have had good luck with Ed Saunders stylus replacements. Further, JICO makes very good replacements. Worth a try. Don't throw out the V15. At the very least, sell it on ebay. The body alone could be worth up to $100.

Thanks albertasaurus for getting back to me on this. The Ed Saunders site is very interesting and I just might try a nedle from him. I will let you know how it goes.
