Hello everyone
Today I bought myself a TD125 mk2 in very nice condition.
The only thing is, the transit screws have never been removed. I can't find reference to them in the original documentation, so I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to their whereabouts?
I've been listening to it tonight, it came with an SME series 3 arm and Shure v15/111 cartridge... and I think it is superior to my Systemdek... I'll be able to turn it up tomorrow and have a proper listen...
Many thanks for reading

Well on the TD16x series they're on the left and righthand extremities of the plinth near the middle. There is usually a pair of orange stickers on the base pointing at the holes to access them.
On a 125 I'm not so sure. It might be the same but you can download the manual from the library to be sure.

Hi Jon
Thanks for replying.
I have the original manual, and I've looked at the one in the library too... there's no mention of the transit screws. Weird huh? I mean, I'm sure it HAS them... but I don't want to start unscrewing all screws I can see in a vain attempt to find the right ones... perhaps I should remove the base... I'd rather not though, if I don't have to.
I'll wait awhile... this site has never let me down yet.
Cheers

My friend happened to have a TD125 in the other room - and it doesn't have a base - so I looked under it. There doesn't seem to be any transit screws but I think you could create the same effect by tightening the suspension knobs all the way down.
Better take the base off - it'll probably sound better with it off anyway. Another friend of mine got a good solid piece of ply cut to use in place of the hardboard on the base. He had three holes cut in it so you could adjust the suspension with the base on and he fitted it with a natty looking set of aluminium cones.

Thanks again Jon. I'll try that out once things have settled down here.
In the meantime I've been listening to it as is, and it sounds a lot better than the Systemdek... I think... I'd like to try a side by side test to see what the actual differences are. The treble and bass seem more defined, and surface noise is almost non existent... but it's hard to remember how things sounded once you change a component, I find.
Happy bonfire night all!
