Hi Can anyone tell me the weight of the genuine Mantra Glass Platter as when I got mine a few years back it didn't have a platter, but then I only paid £5 for it at an auction in full working order, just needing a clean so I can't complain!
I fitted an acrilc platter and graphite rubber mat to it when I first got it which weighs 860 grams but I have now got another glass platter from another turntable which fits and this weighs 1636 grams so quite a bit more.
I leveled the chassis up for the acrilic platter when I got it and really want to know if anyone has any knowlwdge of which is best before I reset the chassis up the the new glass platter and then find it doesn't sound as good then have to go and reset it again for the acrilic one!

I have now fitted a Origin Live motor kit to it to go with the existing Roksan Tabriz arm and Audio Technica AT33PTG Dual MC cartridge.

Many Thanks, Alan

Alan,

I've just joined this forum and have a totally original and untouched 1987 Mantra. I'll weigh the platter tonight and post the result here.

Alan,

According to the average of several goes on my wife's seemingly indecisive kitchen scales, the glass platter (without felt mat) weighs 2050g or thereabouts. Sorry I can't be more precise due to crap technology ...

Cheers, Gavin
