Hi all,
I have the oppertunity to get my hands on an AP-76 for very little cash. Admittedly it requires a little TLC, but am assured is was a worker and should not take much to brighten it up again. I call on you folk as I know very little about these decks. I'd like to know as much as possible about the deck, what parts will need to be looked at in terms of parts. Are there lots of things that need oiling, is it and idler wheel job or a belt scenario? I intend to use this purely for old 78s and so some info on some mid-ranged carts and styli suitable for this unit would be very much appreciated as well as tips on allignemet and setting up the new "cart" in the AP-76. Quite possibly massive question/s to ask, but all help is really appreciated as I'm quite a novice with turntables. I used this site when purchasing my Rega Planar and quite frankly, it was so helpful, this is my first port of call.
All the best and hope to hear from someone soon |

Hi,
The three speed single record AP76 was produced in the 1970's and filled the gap between the SP25 and Zero 100, its idler driven so would guess it has very similar lubrication points as the SP25 which you can download a manual from this site.
With regards to a 78's cartridge I would consider the Shure M75 and install a suitable stylus which can be easily sourced including ebay.
