Systemdek 2X2

An update of the popular IIX turntable, the 2X2 uses an all-new sub-chassis, real Cherry wood veneered plinth and aluminium armboard.

The acrylic inner platter is driven by an O-ring from a compliantly mounted synchronous motor.

The motor is powered by a simple phase-shift power supply mounted in the plinth.

As with the inner platter, the main platter is made from acrylic, closely matching the properties of vinyl itself.

Type: manual turntable

Drive method: belt drive

Motor: Premotec AC synchronous

Speeds: 33 and 45rpm

Platter: machined acrylic

Armboard: aluminium

Plinth: wood veneer

Rhythmically, the 2X2 is impressively sure-footed. It doesn't dig the lowest notes out of the grooves with quite the same authority as more up-marker decks, but it leaves the path clear for the upper bass to show it's form. It's dynamic agility as it scales bass lines helps it keep a tight grip on proceedings - £499 HiFi World 1996
