Rek-O-Kut model 160
Dynamic Turntable Tonearm
So free and effortless is the motion of the model 160 arm, so sensitive it's suspension, that in a state of perfect balance, a mere feather can tip the scale.
This wonderful quality has been put to work in a most useful and ingenious manner.
With a cartridge mounted in the shell, and the shell secured to the arm, the counterweight is adjusted until the arm is suspended in perfect balance. Naturally, the stylus pressure is now zero.
By rotating the counterweight so that it moves towards the pivot, the cartridge dips downward and the stylus begins to develop pressure - at the rate of 1 gram for every 2 turns.
