Description
The linear tracking system of the Onkyo PL-33 completely eliminates tracking error and makes anti-skating setting unnecessary. An accurate microcomputer control system maintains tangential tracking at all times so the record is played back in the same way it was cut to minimize distortion and record wear.
All settings, including cueing, are made with the front panel controls so you never have to touch the tonearm. This protects records and the tonearm from unsteady hands and makes it possible to control everything with the dust cover closed.
The platter is driven directly by a servo-controlled motor that detects and instantly corrects even minute deviations from the correct platter speed.The result is a wow & flutter of only 0.027% and a signal to noise ratio of better than 72dB.
The PL-33 incorporates a memory function so any section of a record can be played automatically. Simply press the START PT button at the point where memory play is to begin and the END PT button where memory play is to end. With repeat activated, the memorized section of the record can be played any number of times automatically.
The dust cover rises when the open/stand-by button is pressed and closes when the open/stand-by button is pressed a second time. For extra convenience, it Is also possible to play a record while the dust cover is raised.
Optical sensors underneath the platter detect the size of the record about to be played so the tonearm always lowers into the starting grooves. This eliminates the need to manually select the record size and protects the stylus from damage resulting from a mistaken record size setting.
