Kenwood L-07D

2-Speed Direct Drive Turntable

Kenwood L-07D

Description

The Kenwood engineers designed the L-07D to absorb vibration over the entire audible frequency range, and used a highly rigid construction to prevent signal loss through vibrational movement.

The direct-drive system of the L-07D incorporates a highly sophisticated quartz-lock, speed-phase double servo control and constant-current type motor to maintain high accuracy in motor speed.

Another unique feature incorporated in the L-07D is the structured platter.

The massive die-cast aluminium platter is reinforced beneath by a 4mm thick, duralumin layer.

But on top of the platter is a second layer of 5mm thick, vibration proof stainless steel.

The two surfaces are interfaced by precision machining to prevent ringing, while the non-magnetic nature of the steel serves as a barrier to magnetism generated by a moving coil type cartridge.

Review

A very neutral combination which blatantly reveals any colourations or resonances in cartridges - Dave Berriman 1981
