Broadcast quality pick-up arm
The BBC MP1/18 was designed for use with the new range of Disk Reproducer RP2/9 and RP2/10 which use the Technics SP10mk2 turntable.
It complements the turntable performance in regard to rejection of spurious v.l.f interference.
It should therefore find application with other disc reproducers using the Technics SP10mk2 turntable in either BBC or standard commercial form. (typical users are local radio and dubbing theatres)

Robust, basic tonearm as standard equipment on RP2/9 and RP2/10 grams (each based on SP-10II). Wired with 2 x co-axial screened cable (not particularly flexible), terminated in subminiature co-ax connectors. Vertical bearing axis not perpendicular to headshell, hence sideways roll [of cartridge] above horizontal (i.e. on warps). No anti-skate mechanism fitted. Fixed geometry and non-slotted cartridge mounting holes. Height adjustment possible. Decoupled, adjustable counterweight. Raise/lower mechanism, optical groove-locator and arm rest are integral to standard plinth. Original cartridge was Shure SC35C, but Ortofon OM-PRO has been used widely and successfully. Sound quality can be described as adequately neutral, with solid bass.
