Acoustic Research The AR Turntable

Introduced in 1984, the AR Turntable was similar to the ES-1 model and was available with or without a tonearm

Acoustic Research The AR Turntable

Description

The AR turntable is a precision instrument capable of providing accurate reproduction of recorded music.

In order to allow the unit to reach its full performance potential, it is worthwhile to take a few minutes to read the manual prior to setting up and use.

If you purchased the unit without tonearm and intend to fit another arm of your choice, then read the section fitting of alternative tonearms.

The turntable will have been supplied with a blank tonearm mounting board made of a wood compound and can be drilled and cut for the mounting of a variety of tonearms.

Before purchasing an arm check with your dealer that it is dimensionally suitable for the AR turntable.

Review

The impression was given of an airy, articulate sound, with good timing and rhythm , plus pleasing rendition of space and ambience. The bass quality was well above average, if a little lightweight, while the mid was clear and well balanced, with the treble in good proportion - £165 motor unit only / £225 with fitted AR tonearm - HiFi Choice 1984
