Too many LPs.
Posted January 1st, 2008 by bauzace50The new year begins with a rather large amount of LPs for me. Some are repeated, some have not been played in a long while. The FEW whose condition is less than excellent came from purchases through eBay.
I will organize the collection, and offer some for postage only, and others for attractive prices. Good opportunity for a sampling of classical, opera, concertos, and such. News on this will be posted as they become available.
Audibility of Record Warps
Posted December 29th, 2007 by bauzace50Mild LP warps are generally not noticed. The music masks their effects. But sine waves clearly show the effect of the mildest warp. One "test LP" of mine has a very mild warp, which is not noticeable while the announcer is talking. As soon as the sine wave content begins, the effect is noticeable. It's not funny to watch the tonearm bob up and down to the audible "beat" of the sound...or vice-versa.
The Road To Vinyl
Posted December 25th, 2007 by bauzace50Hello,
The rules for blogs in the Vinyl Engine permit almost any theme, but it's good to keep it pertinent to the analog territory.
Some backgroung on my Road To Vinyl: as a boy of age 4 I went into my grandparent's garage, where the car eventually did not fit because of all the unused things now stored there. I had a feast examining a wind-up 78 player, with the needles and megaphone. Couple of years later, we spent cool seasons at our country house, to escape the hot summers downtown.
